Emerging technology to help improve trust in government agencies
The limitations imposed by the National Government in Colombia, to contain the spread of the coronavirus, led to the adoption of new ways of carrying out different activities without the need to travel.
As proof of this, the main telecommunications operators in the country have seen an increase in traffic, especially in fixed connections, according to the newspaper El Tiempo. For example, between January and August, the service provider with the largest number of users in the country reported an 82% increase in household Internet service traffic, the same newspaper added.
This is very good news for the Govtech ecosystem and the digital alternatives that have been promoted by government agencies to serve citizens, since the fact that in Colombian households more digital media are used generates an approach by users to these tools.
According to the CAF report, entitled "Govtech and the Future of Government 2020", based on a paradigm shift in the way technological processes are carried out, governments have broadened their objectives and now place the user at the center of the transformation processes, in which digital technologies become fundamental tools to evolve in the digital sphere.
Thus, government entities can integrate new technologies and experiment with new agile work methodologies that allow interaction with the end user to substantially improve service provision, the study explained.
The juncture may increase user confidence in digital procedures, because the ease of access to web platforms and the fact of not having to see an intermediary may contribute to citizens' trust in technological processes and consider that these act in an honest and predictive manner, without giving opportunity for deception or cheating.
Therefore, it is necessary that Colombian technology is constantly evolving to keep up with the digital progress demanded by the increasing use of the cyber industry. It is gratifying to see in the national panorama companies with an innovative commitment such as Nuvu, which has options such as Paperless, Sophie or HounDoc, all designed to improve the user experience when using the tools of the Govtech sector.
